Cooking 101: How to Slice an Apple

It's Apple Season, Learn to Slice an Apple (A Seat at the Table)

It’s apple season, the perfect time to learn to slice an apple.  While there are many different ways to slice an apple, this is a good way for beginners.  I’ve seen many interesting ways of slicing an apple, including just hacking at it.  Or worse, those who don’t eat an apple because they don’t know how to cut it up.

Once you’ve mastered the art of slicing an apple, you can snack on it with peanut butter, a sharp cheese, caramel sauce, or sauté them with a bit of brown sugar and cinnamon.  This fall my favorite breakfast has been the very best oatmeal, topped with sautéed apples and plain Greek yogurt.

What are your favorite ways to eat apples?

  1. I love your “how to” posts as I’ve never had formal instruction in cooking. I do apples pretty well but would love help on chopping onions.
